CHA CHICAGO - DAY TWO

After a good night's sleep - we hit the floor for a full Day Two!

One of the first stops - Heidi Grace and her new Reagan's Closet line - Stacy Hoover this line reminds me of your two little girls!

Bo Bunny has a cool mixed acrylic line of mini albums that they were just previewing at the show - not ready to ship quite yet. If I remember correctly, they are made of something a little different than acrylic to make them more plyable.

The Bazzill booth never disappoints - this time around we saw a cool "tag box" - a box of pre cut tags of different shapes in a nice variety of colors. Great little add on items.
Everyone is going clear and acrylic - Bazzill had plastic paper sheets - they were having fun going around to the various electronic cutters to see which manufacturers would cut it. Pretty soon we'll be cutting our own acrylic on our digital cutters.

More cardstock with the edge - holiday style - great warm colors too.
Bazzill Stitches fans - a cool circle template!

Lots of mini pom pom ribbons - including Bazzill - and a fun ruffled gingham duo for Christmas.
The always cool 7 Gypsies - new stacked self inking stamp sets:

And more 97% complete sticker sheets to add to your collection:
Our major score for the day - a signed copy of Ali Edwards new mini album idea book fresh off the press and only 10 copies to give out! We were #6 and #7 in line! And we got a quick shot with the gal herself. Don't be too jealous Loretta and Stacy.... :)
I have been a follower of Teresa Collins for YEARS - from 7 Gypsies days to Junkitz now to her own line - she is my shabby chic queen! Her new Halloween, Christmas and Recipe lines are super fun. And a cool new 8x8 size in many of these and some of her earlier releases. We all did her make n' takes and I got a personal photo with the queen herself!

There was so much at Making Memories that I couldn't decide what pics to include here - they have another great Halloween and Christmas line but these monochromatic lines were kinda cool too - I think there are 5 colors - red, brown, turquoise, green, and I can't remember the other one(s)...
And last but not least - for all the Quickutz fans - a new binder to hold all your dies in one place. Probably not the most portable - but a nice presentation for your scraproom. Plus new 2x2 alphabets and the deal of the day 4x8 dies with an entire alphabet on them for $39.99.
Those are the highlights. I have over 700 photos from these two days so obviously there were a number of manufacturers and lines not included here. But I thought you would enjoy seeing some of the ones that Steph and I liked the most.
Better start saving now!

Lori

CHA FAVORITES - DAY ONE

Well, better late than never...huh? Thought I would post a few of my and Steph's favorites from CHA Summer in Chicago a few weekends ago. In no particular order -

These moustache rubons from Hambly just made me laugh...
This was one of our favorite "School" lines - ala old school KI Memories -

Add KI Memories new Sheer Delights - think thick frosty report covers:

And even though you won't find me in a tent anytime soon - this line just might make me consider it: Mr. Campy from Cosmo Cricket
These new Distressed Stickles look like they could be kinda fun:

October Afternoon - a new favorite - love everything they had - Weathervane - a fun "homey" line and Hometown - a cute kitchy vintagy line

They also have an adorable "boyish monster" line and a sweet Christmas line.

And our other new favorite - Pink Paislee - Pop Fashion and Vintage Moon - I'm seeing a trend here - turquoise, yellow and black. Lots of yellow in all of the various brands.

The awesome new acrylic manufacturer - Clear Scraps - did not disappoint - I can't wait to get my hands on these XL acrylic shapes. And they are also doing chipboard so you can mix and match chipboard and acrylic in the same shape - lots of possibilities here!
Sassafrass Lass - these little hedgehogs are just too cute - and the smiling mushrooms - this 70's girl can't resist.
The girls - taking notes and making up orders:
The end of DAY ONE - exhausted but starved - so a yummy Chicago style dinner at Gino's East and a late night shopping trip to Windy City Scrapbooks then night night in our Heavenly Beds!

BINGO WORDS - CHOOSE YOURS BEFORE 6/30/08

Summer is officially here and I thought it would be fun to play a little on-line BINGO gameIn order to play, please choose 25 words/phrases from the list of available BINGO words/phrases. You will need to either e-mail Lori (LSlawinski@BBW.COM) or myself (ccarpenter@bright.net), or else you can send a message to the Tarragon Scrappers Yahoo! group, with the words/phrases listed that you have chosen by 11:59 PM Monday, June 30. On Tuesday, July 1, I will begin to post three (3) words/phrases each day on the Tarragon Scrapper blog site, at http://tarragonscrappers.blogspot.com. Once I get down to 15 words/phrases remaining, I will post two (2) words/phrases a day, and if I get down to 5 words/phrases remaining, I will post one (1) word/phrase a day until we have a BINGO. As I list a word/phrase, and you have it on your list, mark it off. The person who marks off her entire list first is the one who wins BINGO. To make it fair for everyone, I will accept all winning BINGOs within a 24 hour period, so there is no need to worry if you are not going to be near your computer when I post. I have a great prize package valued at over $30 for the lucky winner. If we have more than one winner, I will do a random drawing for the grand prize and send a gift certificate out to the second place winner.

So is everyone ready to play? Sure hope so! Don't be too worried if you are not going to be around for a day or two, you can always go back and check off words/phrases that you missed at any time.

I don't know about you girls, but I have a 'bucket list' going and one of the items on my 'bucket list' is to visit each of the National Parks in the United States. So with that in mind, and being summer vacation time and all, here is a list of all of the National Parks, and some other important historical points of interest, found in the United States. Now go ahead and choose 25 of these points of interest and send you list off to Lori or me. I'll start picking random sites on July 1.

Let's Get This CyberCrop Going!

Well, I finished this layout last weekend while cropping with Steph at B&B. Then I realized - thanks to Candy - that it met the "Gay Pride" challenge - using at least 4 colors from the rainbow. So thought I would post it here to get the party started!

Working on another layout that I hope to get finished this week.

What are you working on?

June Cyber-Crop!

Welcome to the first Tarragon Scrappers cyber-crop! I hope you all will have time to take part in the challenges sometime this month. PLEASE take the time to read through this entire post at least once. You might even want to even print it out for your reference as your scrap throughout the month. Hopefully any questions you might have will be answered right here in this thread, but if not don't hesitate to ask if a question should arise.

For each challenge you complete you will earn 1 entry into the prize drawing. Each challenge may be completed more than once, however all challenges must be completed at least once before you start completing them again. Also if you complete all 8 challenges, I will be sending a $10 Lifetime Moments gift card your way.

For the purposes of these challenges, a layout must be at least 8" x 8" or larger in size and can be either a 1 or 2 page layout. If the challenge calls for a set of 3 cards, each of the 3 cards must be different in some way and each card must meet the challenge requirements.

To earn credit for the challenge, your layout/cards must be either posted to either the Tarragon Scrappers Yahoo! website and/or on another website (i.e. Lifetime Moments or 2 Peas) or shown to Lori no later than 11:59 PM June 30. If you post to another website, please send me the link to your layout at
ccarpenter@bright.net so I can verify its completion. When I return from vacation on July 10, I will verify all points earned, post a list for your confirmation, and do a random drawing for a scrapbooking prize package valued at over $50!

So without further adieu, lets get scrapping!

Challenge #1
June brings us the start of the Wimbledon Championships hosted by the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, England. This year the tournament runs from June 23rd to July 6th. One of my favorite all-time movies is the movie Wimbledon starring Paul Bettany and Kirsten Dunst, which was released in 2004.

For this challenge, you can either complete a layout about a movie (i.e. going to see a special movie, your favorite type of movies to watch, or maybe just your favorite movie ever) or you may complete a layout using a movie title as the title of your layout. To complete this challenge you must complete a layout only, cards are not acceptable. Here are two examples I have done in the past that would meet this challenge,
Chick Flicks and Seems Like Old Times.

Challenge #2
In our household, June is also a big birthday month. June it is not just my husband's birthday month but it is also the big 6-0 for him. In honor of Mark's big day on June 14th, your challenge is to either complete a layout about a birthday or else complete a set of at least 3 birthday cards. If you choose to do the card challenge, remember each of the cards must be different.

Challenge #3
June 21st is officially Baby Boomer Recognition Day. A baby boomer is officially anyone who was born between 1946 and 1964. For this challenge you may complete either a layout using a photo taken during this time period or else complete a layout about someone who is actually considered a baby boomer. To complete this challenge you must complete a layout only, cards are not acceptable. Here is a layout I did about using a picture of myself and my brother taken in 1956,
School Day Memories, which would meet the requirements for this challenge.

Challenge #4
This year the week of June 28th thru July 4th is officially "Fish are Friends, Not Food! Week". I couldn't agree with this sentiment more! I am definitely not a fish eater of any kind. Therefore for this challenge, create a layout about something you do not like at all or create a layout about your favorite food. To complete this challenge you must complete a layout only, cards are not acceptable. This layout I recently did for our Taraggon Scrappers bling challenge,
No Lobster!, would meet the requirements for this challenge.

Challenge #5
The month of June is officially Gay & Lesbian Pride Month. The rainbow flag has become the easily-recognized colors of pride for the gay community. The multicultural symbolism of the rainbow is nothing new and it plays a part in many myths and stories related to gender and sexuality issues in Greek, Native American, African, and other cultures. The colors in of the flag are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and lilac.

This is a color challenge. For this challenge you must complete a layout or set of cards that contains at least four of these six colors or complete a layout or set of cards that uses the colors purple, white, and black only. You may use different shades of purple on the layout or cards, but other than white and black, no other color can be present. Remember, if you choose to do the card challenge, each of the cards must be different. My layout,
12 on 12, would meet the requirements for this layout.

Challenge #6
June 1st is Pen Pal Day. Even though handwriting letters is becoming a thing of the past, handwritten cards and letters from my parents are treasured pieces of memorabilia from my past.

The requirement for this challenge is to either complete a layout using your own handwritten journaling (no computer journaling allowed) or else complete a layout which contains journaling (computer journaling allowed here) of 150 words or more. To complete this challenge you must complete a layout only, cards are not acceptable. If your journaling is unreadable in the scan, please email me a copy of the journaling.

Challenge #7
Did you know that June 6th if officially Doughnut Day? Maybe I will go out and get myself a cream filled vanilla iced filled stick to celebrate the day!

For this layout you must either complete a layout incorporating a minimum of a 6 inch circle or complete a layout or set of cards using striped pattern paper as your background paper. I will consider background paper as any paper that covers at least 60% of your background. My layout,
Cutie Patootie, would meet the circle requirement for this challenge.

Challenge #8
And for our last challenge of the month . . . June 27th is officially "Decide to be Married Day". Both of my daughters decided to get married in June, so weddings and June bring back a lot of fond memories in our household. So in honor of Leslie and Kate's wedding days, for this challenge, complete either a layout containing only 2 photographs or a layout about a wedding or preparations for a wedding. You may also complete this layout by making 3 wedding cards or bridal shower invitations. Remember, if you choose to do the card challenge, each of the cards must be different. Here are 2 layouts I completed,
Kingsleigh Inn (2 photos) and The Kiss (wedding photo), that would meet this challenge.

So there you have it everyone . . . the challenges for the first Tarragon Scrappers cyber-crop! One last thing, any of these challenges can be combined with our regular June challenges, so you will be able to earn credit for both challenges with one layout! However, challenges cannot be combined with one another to earn credit for two of the challenges (ex. making one set of birthday cards that meet both Challenge 2, birthday, and Challenge 5, the color challenge). Now go clean up your scrap area, find some quiet time, dig deep in that stash you are hording, and let's get scrapping!

Welcome to the Tarragon Scrappers Blog!

Hello ladies!
I have been playing with this Tarragon Scrappers blog for about a month just waiting for the right time to make it "GO LIVE" and now I have the perfect excuse to do it. Our social director for the summer - our own Candy C - is going to use the blog to set up our virtual crop and games leading up to our big Fall Retreat in September.

We are still experimenting with this blog so not everything is exactly the way I want it. But like everything - it is a work in progress. So take a look around and if you have any ideas - float them my way. I am open for suggestions.

I would like to make it so everyone will have access to post entries and layouts and any other fun thing they want to share - photos of kids, vacation pics, etc.

So WELCOME AGAIN to the Tarragon Scrappers blog - where scrapbook ideas grow!
