June Cyber-Crop!

Welcome to the first Tarragon Scrappers cyber-crop! I hope you all will have time to take part in the challenges sometime this month. PLEASE take the time to read through this entire post at least once. You might even want to even print it out for your reference as your scrap throughout the month. Hopefully any questions you might have will be answered right here in this thread, but if not don't hesitate to ask if a question should arise.

For each challenge you complete you will earn 1 entry into the prize drawing. Each challenge may be completed more than once, however all challenges must be completed at least once before you start completing them again. Also if you complete all 8 challenges, I will be sending a $10 Lifetime Moments gift card your way.

For the purposes of these challenges, a layout must be at least 8" x 8" or larger in size and can be either a 1 or 2 page layout. If the challenge calls for a set of 3 cards, each of the 3 cards must be different in some way and each card must meet the challenge requirements.

To earn credit for the challenge, your layout/cards must be either posted to either the Tarragon Scrappers Yahoo! website and/or on another website (i.e. Lifetime Moments or 2 Peas) or shown to Lori no later than 11:59 PM June 30. If you post to another website, please send me the link to your layout at
ccarpenter@bright.net so I can verify its completion. When I return from vacation on July 10, I will verify all points earned, post a list for your confirmation, and do a random drawing for a scrapbooking prize package valued at over $50!

So without further adieu, lets get scrapping!

Challenge #1
June brings us the start of the Wimbledon Championships hosted by the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, England. This year the tournament runs from June 23rd to July 6th. One of my favorite all-time movies is the movie Wimbledon starring Paul Bettany and Kirsten Dunst, which was released in 2004.

For this challenge, you can either complete a layout about a movie (i.e. going to see a special movie, your favorite type of movies to watch, or maybe just your favorite movie ever) or you may complete a layout using a movie title as the title of your layout. To complete this challenge you must complete a layout only, cards are not acceptable. Here are two examples I have done in the past that would meet this challenge,
Chick Flicks and Seems Like Old Times.

Challenge #2
In our household, June is also a big birthday month. June it is not just my husband's birthday month but it is also the big 6-0 for him. In honor of Mark's big day on June 14th, your challenge is to either complete a layout about a birthday or else complete a set of at least 3 birthday cards. If you choose to do the card challenge, remember each of the cards must be different.

Challenge #3
June 21st is officially Baby Boomer Recognition Day. A baby boomer is officially anyone who was born between 1946 and 1964. For this challenge you may complete either a layout using a photo taken during this time period or else complete a layout about someone who is actually considered a baby boomer. To complete this challenge you must complete a layout only, cards are not acceptable. Here is a layout I did about using a picture of myself and my brother taken in 1956,
School Day Memories, which would meet the requirements for this challenge.

Challenge #4
This year the week of June 28th thru July 4th is officially "Fish are Friends, Not Food! Week". I couldn't agree with this sentiment more! I am definitely not a fish eater of any kind. Therefore for this challenge, create a layout about something you do not like at all or create a layout about your favorite food. To complete this challenge you must complete a layout only, cards are not acceptable. This layout I recently did for our Taraggon Scrappers bling challenge,
No Lobster!, would meet the requirements for this challenge.

Challenge #5
The month of June is officially Gay & Lesbian Pride Month. The rainbow flag has become the easily-recognized colors of pride for the gay community. The multicultural symbolism of the rainbow is nothing new and it plays a part in many myths and stories related to gender and sexuality issues in Greek, Native American, African, and other cultures. The colors in of the flag are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and lilac.

This is a color challenge. For this challenge you must complete a layout or set of cards that contains at least four of these six colors or complete a layout or set of cards that uses the colors purple, white, and black only. You may use different shades of purple on the layout or cards, but other than white and black, no other color can be present. Remember, if you choose to do the card challenge, each of the cards must be different. My layout,
12 on 12, would meet the requirements for this layout.

Challenge #6
June 1st is Pen Pal Day. Even though handwriting letters is becoming a thing of the past, handwritten cards and letters from my parents are treasured pieces of memorabilia from my past.

The requirement for this challenge is to either complete a layout using your own handwritten journaling (no computer journaling allowed) or else complete a layout which contains journaling (computer journaling allowed here) of 150 words or more. To complete this challenge you must complete a layout only, cards are not acceptable. If your journaling is unreadable in the scan, please email me a copy of the journaling.

Challenge #7
Did you know that June 6th if officially Doughnut Day? Maybe I will go out and get myself a cream filled vanilla iced filled stick to celebrate the day!

For this layout you must either complete a layout incorporating a minimum of a 6 inch circle or complete a layout or set of cards using striped pattern paper as your background paper. I will consider background paper as any paper that covers at least 60% of your background. My layout,
Cutie Patootie, would meet the circle requirement for this challenge.

Challenge #8
And for our last challenge of the month . . . June 27th is officially "Decide to be Married Day". Both of my daughters decided to get married in June, so weddings and June bring back a lot of fond memories in our household. So in honor of Leslie and Kate's wedding days, for this challenge, complete either a layout containing only 2 photographs or a layout about a wedding or preparations for a wedding. You may also complete this layout by making 3 wedding cards or bridal shower invitations. Remember, if you choose to do the card challenge, each of the cards must be different. Here are 2 layouts I completed,
Kingsleigh Inn (2 photos) and The Kiss (wedding photo), that would meet this challenge.

So there you have it everyone . . . the challenges for the first Tarragon Scrappers cyber-crop! One last thing, any of these challenges can be combined with our regular June challenges, so you will be able to earn credit for both challenges with one layout! However, challenges cannot be combined with one another to earn credit for two of the challenges (ex. making one set of birthday cards that meet both Challenge 2, birthday, and Challenge 5, the color challenge). Now go clean up your scrap area, find some quiet time, dig deep in that stash you are hording, and let's get scrapping!
